President Paudel designates ambassadors to Malaysia and India

Prahaar, Samachar, Kathmandu, 18 dec 2024 —President Ram Chandra Paudel has appointed Nepal’s residential ambassadors to India and Malaysia, marking an important step in strengthening the country’s diplomatic ties with these nations.

Dr. Shankar Prasad Sharma has been named Nepal’s ambassador to India, a pivotal role given the deep cultural, political, and economic connections shared by the two countries. Dr. Sharma’s extensive experience in international relations and policy is expected to help address key bilateral issues and foster stronger cooperation between Nepal and its closest neighbor.

Similarly, Dr. Netra Prasad Timilsina has been appointed as Nepal’s ambassador to Malaysia, a country with a significant Nepali migrant worker population. Dr. Timilsina is anticipated to focus on protecting the rights and welfare of Nepali workers in Malaysia while also working to enhance economic and diplomatic ties between the two nations.

The appointments were made under Article 282, Clause (1) of the Constitution of Nepal, following the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, according to a statement from the President’s Office.

These new appointments highlight Nepal’s commitment to strengthening its international partnerships and ensuring effective representation abroad. Both ambassadors are expected to play crucial roles in advancing Nepal’s interests and deepening relations with India and Malaysia.
