Authority (NEA) has reported a significant profit of Rs 9.11 billion in the first three months of the current fiscal year. This positive financial performance is a result of increased domestic power generation, reduced reliance on imports, and efficient revenue collection.

Breaking Down the Numbers
- Total Income: Rs 41.80 billion
- Total Expenditure: Rs 32.69 billion
- Electricity Sales: Rs 28.95 billion
- Electricity Purchases: Rs 21.09 billion
A Promising Future
While the current quarter has been financially successful, the NEA is preparing for potential challenges during the upcoming winter months. Reduced hydropower generation may necessitate increased electricity imports from India. To mitigate this, the NEA is actively pursuing long-term power purchase agreements, diversifying import sources, and investing in domestic power generation capacity.
