The Dengue infection rate in Nepal’s Gandaki Province is on the rise, with no respite in sight due to continuous rainfall. Symptoms include high fever, body aches, headaches, eye discomfort, vomiting, exhaustion, and joint pains.
The Ministry of Social Development and Health reports 6,778 confirmed cases in Gandaki Province, with Tanahun and Kaski having the highest infection rates among its 11 districts.
Nepal as a whole has seen over 38,000 dengue cases. The rainy season creates ideal breeding conditions for the Aedes mosquito, which transmits the virus.
Preventive measures such as using mosquito nets, applying repellent, and removing stagnant water are crucial. Public awareness campaigns are ongoing to educate residents on dengue symptoms and early medical intervention.
Vigilance and proactive efforts are essential to combat the Dengue outbreak in Nepal’s Gandaki Province and beyond.
